Joshua will make an exciting European debut with Dutch National Opera this March performing the iconic Niccolò Machiavelli in the World Premiere of Mohammed Fairouz’s The New Prince. This is the second opera by the young American composer, who is strongly engaged with social and political issues, and has a deep respect for the power of the human voice. He works with librettist David Ignatius, who is a well-known American foreign expert, journalist with The Washington Post and novelist.

Directed by Lotte de Beer, designed by the duo Clement & Sanôu, and conducted by Steven Sloane, the opera promises to be an intense evening of political drama with a cast that features Karin Strobos, Paulo Szot, Simon Lim, and Barbara Walsh.
